Please review the list of documents below carefully and be familiar with your profile, as the border services officer may request these documents and ask questions related to your application to support your entry into Canada.

SECTION 01

Education Documents / Work Documents

Carry both Original and Photocopy of the following documents. These documents are available with you.

SECTION 02

Institution and Accommodation Documents

Print and carry the following documents with you.

Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) (If Applicable)

Accommodation Proof

This document will be available with you

Confirm your accommodation (on-campus / off-campus) before traveling.

Orientation & Course Registration

Please ensure you coordinate with your academic advisor to register for your orientation and courses before the deadline and prior to your travel.

Course Load

Make sure you are registered for a minimum of five courses, or a full course load each semester, in accordance with your institution's course registration guidelines to maintain your full-time student status.

Passing Courses

You must pass all registered courses each semester to maintain full-time status. Successfully completing your courses is necessary for obtaining your completion letter or degree. Failing in any courses can also lead to termination / probation / withdrawal.

Attendance

Maintain regular attendance to preserve your valid student status. In case of an emergency, promptly inform your institution, the international student centre, your faculty, and any other relevant authority. Provide supporting documentation and obtain authorized leave to avoid complications with your stay. During this period, consult your academic advisor to determine whether you need to withdraw from or pause your registered courses to avoid financial liability.

Grading System

Review and understand your institution's grading system to monitor your academic standing each semester and take appropriate action if needed.

Passport

Current Passport: With Canada visa stamp.

Old Passport: Carry if it contains any valid visas from other countries.

Other ID

Government-issued ID from your country of residence

Birth Certificate Copy (If below 18)

Embassy Documents

Attached in the Email. Print and carry the following documents with you.

SECTION 05

Financial Documents

Print and carry the following documents with you.

Tuition Fee / Tuition Deposit Payment

Tuition Deposit — Attached in the Email for your reference.

Make sure to pay the full tuition fee before your travel and carry the receipt with you.

Accommodation Payment

Make sure to make the payment for your accommodation before you travel.

Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC)

Bank Documents

Carry your sponsor / parents' updated 4-month bank statement or updated Bank Balance Letter before travel.

Travel Guidelines

CATEGORY DO’S DON’TS
Airline Ticket Carry a printed copy of your airline ticket. This document is available with you. Do not travel without a copy of your ticket.
Flight Planning Confirm your departure terminal before travel.

For connecting flights in other countries, keep a 6–8-hour gap (or more) between flights to allow sufficient time for immigration procedures during busy periods.

For connecting flights in the same country as your destination, keep a 6–8-hour gap (or more) to allow time to collect your study permit and complete immigration procedures.

Check with the airline if a transit visa is required for any country where you have a stop or layover.
Do not book flights arriving on Saturdays, Sundays, or at night. Universities are closed during these times, and no communication or assistance will be available.

Do not take a flight with multiple stops, especially in the same country.
Medical & Vaccination Records Carry printed vaccination and medical records. Do not travel without the required vaccination proof.
At the Airport Ask questions at official help desks if needed.

Answer immigration questions calmly and confidently.
Do not rely on unofficial sources for information.

Do not panic or give unclear answers during immigration.
Important Addresses & Contacts Keep a list of important addresses and phone numbers, including your accommodation, institute coordinators, parents’ details, and relatives’ details (if staying with them). Do not leave this information unrecorded or inaccessible.
Local Currency for Expenses Carry CAD 700–2,000 in cash and/or on your card for initial expenses. Do not travel without sufficient local currency or access to funds.

SECTION 07

Luggage / Check-in Baggage

These are general guidelines; however, please review the airline instructions carefully.

Medications

Carry only essential medications.

Keep a valid doctor’s prescription.

Pack all medicines together in one pouch.

Avoid carrying unnecessary medications.

Do not carry medicines for others.

Baggage Weight

Check your airline’s baggage allowance in advance.

Ensure your luggage is within the permitted weight limit.

Avoid exceeding baggage limits, as additional charges may apply.
Restricted Items Check your airline’s rules for restricted and prohibited items before packing. Avoid carrying restricted items such as alcohol, tobacco, weapons, food, or plant/animal products beyond permitted limits.
Helping Others Carry only your own belongings. Do not carry another person’s bags or items in your luggage to avoid potential issues.
Customs Clearance

Be mindful of items purchased from duty-free.

Declare items when required by customs authorities.

Avoid carrying undeclared or restricted items.

Customs agents may randomly select luggage for inspection.

Liquids in Baggage Ensure all bottles are tightly sealed to prevent leakage. Avoid packing aerosols, flammable liquids, or restricted chemicals that are prohibited by airline regulations.
Identification of Baggage Attach a luggage tag with your name, address, and contact details. Avoid leaving baggage without proper identification.
Baggage Collection Confirm during check-in whether your baggage will be transferred directly to your destination or if you need to collect and recheck it during transit. Do not assume your baggage will be transferred automatically during transit.
Clothes Carry a few weather-appropriate clothes suitable for your destination. Avoid overpacking, as additional items can be purchased after arrival.
Toiletries, Thermometer & Linens Pack toiletries, a thermometer, and linens (bed sheets, pillowcases, etc.) securely. Avoid packing liquids loosely to prevent leakage.
Food & Packed Food It is generally not recommended to carry food. If you wish to do so, check with your airline beforehand to confirm what is permitted. Avoid carrying food items, especially strong-smelling items, as they may lead to additional screening or inspection.

SECTION 08

Cabin Baggage

These are general guidelines; however, please review the airline instructions carefully.

CATEGORY DO’S DON’TS
List of Packed Items Keep a list of all items packed in your luggage. Do not forget to keep track of your packed items.
Original Documents Carry all original documents safely in a dedicated folder. Do not place original documents in your checked baggage.
Copies of Documents Carry a separate folder containing photocopies of all important documents. Do not travel without backup copies of your important documents.
Extra Set of Clothes Pack one extra set of clothes in your cabin baggage for emergencies. Do not skip packing an emergency set of clothes in your cabin baggage.
Sanitizer, Masks & Hand Gloves Carry masks, hand sanitizer, and hand gloves in your cabin bag for easy access. Do not leave essential hygiene items in your checked luggage.
Liquids Carry liquids only in containers of 100 ml or less.

Place all liquids in a transparent, resealable plastic bag.
Do not carry liquids in containers larger than 100 ml.

Do not pack liquids loosely without proper sealing.

SECTION 09

What to Do If — Do's & Don'ts

These are general guidelines; however, please review the airline instructions carefully.

Missed Connecting Flight Stay calm and immediately inform your parents, airport pickup person, accommodation provider, and institution.

Contact the airline authorities to arrange and book the next available flight.

Check the status of your checked baggage before boarding the new flight.
Do not panic.

Do not leave the airport without informing the concerned people.

Do not delay contacting the airline for assistance.
Missing Luggage Stay calm and use the emergency clothes packed in your cabin baggage if required.

Inform your parents.

Report the missing luggage to the airport or airline authorities immediately.

Provide your packed items list if requested.

Follow the airline’s instructions and check the luggage status after reaching your accommodation.

In most cases, missing luggage is returned within a week.
Do not panic.

Do not leave the airport without reporting the missing luggage.

Do not ignore follow-up communication with the airline until your luggage is returned.

SECTION 10
